Part 1/2: Pickup editing platform

A smoother pickup experience everywhere, for both riders and drivers

Problem

  1. In complex areas like airports, choosing and finding your pickup spot was difficult.

Solution

  1. Provide riders with simple tools to quickly choose their pickup spot to somewhere that’s convenient, safe, and legal.

What I did

  1. As the prototyper, I built interactive prototypes with real data, designed map interactions, and helped launch the final product.

Outcome

  1. In the first year, the platform generated $60 million in trip bookings due to fewer cancellations and an overall improved pickup experience.

Part 2/2: Imagery for pickup spot

Helping riders and drivers find each other more easily

Problem

  1. In complex or unfamiliar areas, it’s difficult for riders and drivers to find each other and coordinate a meeting spot.

Solution

  1. Show a streetside image of the pickup spot to both rider and driver for more context on where to meet.

What I did

  1. As part of my goal to improve my design skills, I got the opportunity to lead this design project from end to end.

  1. Worked with researchers to plan research studies, analyze learnings, and build research-focused prototypes

Prototyping

  1. Rapidly prototyped interaction design explorations, and built a tool to collect and organize streetside images.

Outcome

  1. After soft-launching in two cities, streetside imagery decreased cancelled rides by 2.7%, and improved rider sentiment (based on email surveys).
